AHSG Raises $16,700 for Flooring Families in Need

Wednesday, October 21, 2026

[San Antonio] The flooring industry came together to make a difference at the American Home Surfaces Group (AHSG) and Commercial USA Member Summit.

Since 1981, the Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF) has provided direct financial assistance to flooring professionals battling catastrophic injuries, severe disabilities or life-threatening illnesses.

Scott Humphrey, CEO of the World Floor Covering Association and FCIF board vice chair, took the stage to share FCIF’s mission and the growing demand for assistance among flooring families.

Attendees responded with generous individual donations, which were matched by a corporate gift from Bob Himmelreich of Pro-Tech Floors. AHSG then matched their combined contributions, bringing the total raised to $16,700 in just 10 minutes.

This generosity comes at a critical time, as FCIF has already awarded 100 percent of its 2026 grant budget and demand for assistance continues.
FCIF would like to thank Brian Preuss, president of AHSG & Commercial USA, Bob Himmelreich, AHSG and every attendee who contributed to supporting flooring families facing life-changing medical challenges.

“The Floor Covering Industry Foundation is really important to the flooring industry. It’s the industry giving back to its own and looking at everybody, no matter what position they’ve held in the industry, and focusing on how to help them when they’ve had a crisis or health challenges,” said Amie Gilmore, board member for FCIF.

Meet Sharon

Sharon worked as a machine operator in the flooring industry for 14 years. After suffering a stroke and being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, she faced growing health challenges that made living independently difficult. When the cost of assisted living became a financial burden, FCIF provided a grant to help cover her assisted living expenses, allowing her to remain in a safe, supportive environment.

“This grant has allowed me to live in a place where I feel safe and supported, while still having a sense of independence. I am so grateful for the help,” Sharon shared.
